In about 1750, a great-great...father of mine who was living in the Dutch East Indies had a friend that was a pastor whose family line was about to die out. He had no (male?) children and neither did any siblings that he (might have?) had. He was the lamenting being the last 'Witbols'. So, my great-great...father said (in essence), 'Not to worry, I'll bring your name into my family and we'll keep the 'Witbols' name going'
